OZ Optics' advanced entangled photon sources harness the high optical confinement within a periodically poled nonlinear waveguide (PPNW) to achieve exceptional efficiency and produce plentiful photon pairs. Utilizing spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) within a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) type-2 waveguide, situated within a fiber-based Sagnac loop, photons are generated. The thermal stabilization of the PPNW ensures maintenance of the ideal phase matching condition. Following the creation of photon pairs, pump photons and associated fluorescence noise are efficiently filtered out from the remaining pairs using a built-in set of optical filters.

This remarkable stability is attained through the self-compensation effect of an all-in-fiber Sagnac interferometer, complemented by a single-frequency external cavity laser operating at 775 nm with an ultra-narrow linewidth. Consequently, bright, high-performance, and low-noise entangled photon sources operating at room temperature are realized. The resulting polarization-entangled photon pairs are generated within a narrow spectral bandwidth of just a few nanometers in the C Band, with a center wavelength of 1550 nm.
