OZ Optics' advanced entangled photon sources leverage the high optical confinement within a periodically poled nonlinear waveguide (PPNW) to achieve remarkable efficiency and a rich abundance of photon pairs. These photons are produced through spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) within a periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) type-2 waveguide, nestled within a fiber-based Sagnac loop. Ensuring optimal phase matching, the PPNW is thermally stabilized. Upon photon pair creation, any residual pump photons and associated fluorescence noise are meticulously filtered out by an integrated set of optical filters.

Exceptional stability is realized through the self-compensation effect of an all-in-fiber Sagnac interferometer, complemented by a single-frequency external cavity laser operating at 775 nm with an ultra-narrow linewidth. Consequently, these entangled photon sources deliver bright, high-performance outputs with minimal noise, operating comfortably at room temperature. The resulting polarization-entangled photon pairs exhibit a narrow spectral bandwidth of just a few nanometers in the C Band, centered at 1550 nm.
