Located in the middle of the UK, Vortex was founded in 2008 by a team of optical coating experts with many years of experience in the photonics industry. Vortex designs and manufactures infrared filters and coatings, visible filters, anti-reflection coatings, infrared linear variable filters (LVF), beamsplitters, and dichroics with outstanding speed and quality. While traditionally thermal evaporation has been used for IR filters, Vortex’s IR filters are deposited by sputtering, using the company’s own “Rockard”© technology, and thus ensuring highly durable coatings suitable for the toughest environments, extremely low temperature shift, reduced passband ripple and high blocking efficiency to increase signal-to-noise ratio.
Vortex offers the complete value chain from coating services (coating customers’ components with ultra-short response times) to supplying also the substrates, thus providing full manufacture of optics, all the way to delivering custom filters and windows in OEM/production volumes – on time for production programs where quality, price, consistency and on-time delivery are key.
