Filter Fans

Filter Fans available from Stock
AMS Technologies’ portfolio of filter fans available from stock can be used as an effective and low-cost solution for removing dissipated heat out of cabinets or enclosures, thus avoiding heat accumulation and dissipating power losses. The ambient air with lower temperature is filtered and blown into the bottom of the cabinet, while the warm air is carried out with an exhaust filter in the upper part of the enclosure, discharging the heat loss to the outside.

AMS Technologies offers one of the most extensive ranges of filter fans on the market. Models with especially low-profile shape and quick mounting capabilities are available from stock in various performance classes with air flows from 15 m³/h to 930 m³/h (free blowing) and supply voltages from 12 VDC to 400 VAC (depending on type), ideally suited for different requirements and operating conditions up to IP55 class of protection.

Our filter fan variants with large filter surface and low installation depth feature free air flow values ranging from 59 m³/h to 730 m³/h, with dimensions ranging from 116 x 116 mm to 344 x 344 mm.

Related Products
A range of accessories for our filter fans is available from stock, including replacement exhaust filters with low profile and either screw mount or screwless quick mounting capabilities in various dimensions, suitable for our different filter fan series. We also provide cover grill variations, further colours and EMC versions for demanding applications on request.

In addition to our dedicated filter fans, we carry a wide portfolio of general purpose fans featuring high air flow combined with low noise and low power consumption. Choose the model from our broad selection of brushless DC fans or blowers that delivers the right performance for your project. In applications that require just a constant airflow, our range of AC fans powered directly from 230 VAC mains can significantly reduce the effort for voltage conversion and control.

AMS Technologies’ wide range of high-performance heat sink profiles with optimized geometries provides outstanding heat transfer performance.

Fans are critical components in thermoelectric solutions – AMS Technologies carries an extraordinary portfolio of thermoelectric components like thermoelectric (Peltier) modules or TEC temperature controllers. Beyond our standard products, we also provide extensive development services of TEC-based solutions for medical equipment, instrumentation, transportation and other applications.

Definition
Filter fans are complete units combining a fan and a filter mat in one device. Filter fans are mounted on a corresponding opening in a cabinet or enclosure. Variants with large-area filter mats reduce the filter fan’s airflow resistance.

Most models work in blowing mode, i.e. blowing cool outside air into the cabinet. In this setup, the filter fan should be mounted to the cabinet as low as possible to utilize thermal convection. High heat loads should be positioned inside the cabinet as high as possible and close to the outlet filter grid to avoid heating up other subsystems or components.

Special designs operating in suction mode (sucking the air out of the enclosure) are available on request – these filter fans should be mounted to the cabinet as high as possible, preferably on the top.

For challenging environments, the filter fan’s protection category is critical. IP54 is the standard category for most of our filter fans, with special filters allowing to upgrade to IP 55. Stainless-steel gill plates and hose-proof hoods are available as optional accessories for even more protection.
