Windows are used to protect and isolate a system from outside agents. When choosing a window, the transmission range, thermal and mechanical properties including durability may be considered.
DLC (diamond-like carbon) coated Ge windows are typically used in harsh environments; from a tank in the middle of the desert to an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean, whenever the conditions are severe, customers want the toughest coating there is. By placing a DLC coated Ge window in front of a camera, our customers get the best protection possible.
Our DLC coating passes the “windshield wiper” test, where the lens is subject to sand and mud, then a windshield wiper is passed through several times to ensure its durability.
AMS Technologies offers a large selection of Ge windows, coated with DLC in the LWIR range – right off the shelf with various diameters. Custom sizes are available, as small as 4mm to as large as 25.4 cm.
