A broad range of single mode (SM) fiber patch cables is available from AMS Technologies, equipped with a large variety of connectors, connector finishes, coatings and fibers. Our SM patch cables can be customized to your requirements.
Standard SM patch cables can be supplied with FC, SC, ST, LC, MU or SMA905 optical connectors. Multi-fiber SM patch cables can be ordered with MTP and MPO or other types of connectors. Manufactured according to Telcordia GR-326-CORE, our standard SM patch cables offer low insertion loss, high return loss and high repeatability.
SM patch cables that are specifically designed for high-power applications feature special high-power SM fibers with carefully prepared end-faces. They are terminated with specialized fiber optic connectors that allow for handling of very high optical power in your application. If the optical power level needs to be attenuated, we carry a series of fixed attenuating SM fiber patch cables that is capable of handling up to 2 W at 1550 nm and provides between 0.5 and 20 dB of attenuation.
Hermetically sealable SM patch cables with metal or glass solder enable the easy creation of a hermetic seal that meets industry requirements. These patch cables with a gold-plated seal tube allow good on-site sealing and corrosion resistance. The feedthrough section can be soldered into an opto-electronic package using standard tin/lead solders.
If a standard SM fiber does not cover your requirements for special projects, our SM patch cables can also be manufactured using your custom fiber. Definition
Fiber optic single mode (SM) patch cables consist of a single mode fiber, like SMF28-compatible fibers or fibers with high refractive index, which is covered with an often yarn-reinforced coating with low refractive index and possibly an additional protective outer layer (jacket). SM patch cables are pre-terminated at one or both ends with suitable fiber connectors (e.g. FC, SC, LC type).
