The mating sleeves and adapters available from our inventory provide female connectors of the same connector type on both sides, but we also offer hybrid solutions for mating different connector types as well as that connect female to male connectors with a short length of fiber within the device.

In addition to mating sleeves and adapters for single connectors, the AMS Technologies portfolio also includes duplex and even quad types as well as adapters for connecting bare fibers on one end with fiber connectors on the other end. Bulkhead receptacles can be used to connect fiber patch cables to an opening in order to project light from an optical fiber into free space.

Definition
Mating sleeves or adapters are two-sided, mostly female fiber optic connectors that couple two (mostly male) fiber connectors together, with fiber optic alignment as the highest priority. Mating sleeves ensure a firm, uninterrupted physical contact between two optical fiber cables with connectors and provide reliable and robust centering of the two fiber cores (single mode (SM), multi mode (MM) or polarisation maintaining (PM)) to each other. Depending on the connector type, the fiber ends are brought into contact or the mating sleeve provides a defined air gap between them.
Most mating sleeves or adapters allow the connection of two connectors of the same type, but hybrid mating sleeves are suitable for accommodating different connector types on the two sides. This also allows transitions to be made between optical fibers of different types, such as SM, MM or PM fibers.
In addition to simplex single versions, versions with duplex or quad structures are also available.
