Product information "HTC Series TEC Temperature Controllers"

Output Current TEC ±1.5, ±3, ±4 A; PCB Mount; Supply Voltage 5-12 VDC; Temperature Stability 0.0009°C

With its advanced and reliable circuitry, Wavelength Electronics’ HTC series of component type TEC temperature controllers achieves 0.0009°C temperature stability. Its low-profile package is ideal for designs with space constraints and can be mounted in a number of different ways. The HTC can be electrically connected to a PCB or by using a SIP connector and cable. The heatsink can be bolted directly to the HTC series device, or the device can be bolted directly to the equipment chassis to maximize space efficiency.

The ultra-stable linear, PI control loop offers maximum stability, while the bipolar current source has been designed for higher efficiency.

The HTC series drives up to ±4.0 A for either thermoelectrics (bipolar) or resistive heaters (unipolar). Three maximum output current ranges are available: ±1.5, ±3 and ±4 A. While regular drivers for 1.5 and 3 A are designed for 0.031 inch (0.79 mm) thick printed circuit boards (PCBs), each of the models (including drivers for 4 A) is also available as a “HTCxxoo-62” variant, suitable for mounting on 0.062 inch (1.57 mm) thick PCBs.

The HTC Series TEC temperature controllers are easily configured for any design. Virtually any type of temperature sensor can be used with the HTC, and a built-in sensor bias current source simplifies use with resistive temperature sensors. The independently adjustable proportional gain (P) and integrator time constant (I) can be modified to optimize temperature overshoot and stability.

Other features offer added flexibility. A single resistor sets the maximum output current to load. Add a diode to operate resistive heaters with a unipolar output current. An onboard reference voltage simplifies potentiometer control of the temperature setpoint. You can also choose to operate remotely with an external setpoint voltage. Two monitor pins provide access to the temperature setpoint voltage and the actual sensor voltage.
