Optical isolators are an optical component which allows the transmission of light in only one direction. It is typically used to prevent unwanted back reflection and stopping scattered light from reaching sensitive components, particularly lasers.

Gooch & Housego (G&H) offers a complete line of high-quality, regular- and high-power, single mode (SM) and polarization maintaining (PM) fiber-based optical isolators featuring low optical loss and high isolation across a wide range of wavelengths. Power Handling goes up to 10 or even 20 W.

G&H high-grade, single stage and dual stage fiber optic isolators are available with different mechanical packaging and connector options such as ST, FC, SC, LC, FC/APC, SC/APC and LC/APC. G&H provides fiber optical isolators that operate over wavelength ranges in near infrared (NIR), IR and broadband – from 532 to 2000 nm. Most of the high-quality PM isolators are also available in broadband wavelength modes with a bandwidth of ±50 nm.

An optical fiber isolator is used in many optical applications in corporate, industrial and laboratory settings. Optical fiber isolators are used in conjunction with fiber optic amplifiers, fiber optic lasers, optical module interfaces, fiber optic links in CATV applications and fiber optic communication systems.

Four different versions of G&H fiber optic isolators are available:
