High Voltage AC/DC Power Supplies
Each high voltage application has its own power supply requirements. Based on the technologies and topologies developed and deployed by our partners, we are able to offer a broad range of compact and reliable solutions for most high-voltage AC/DC power supply requirements. Our standard devices and systems have output voltages of up to 500 kVDC and output powers of up to several hundred kW.
Our range of high voltage AC/DC power supplies offers regulated output power, current and voltage. Optimized in terms of weight and size, the devices can be optimally integrated into cabinet systems, including the necessary protection and safety systems.
By adaptation, modification or customer-specific development, tailor-made product designs can also be realised especially for your application requirements – in case a standard product should not meet the specs. Our AC/DC power supplies are used by OEM manufacturers, industrial service providers and research institutions in a wide range of commercial, defense and research applications. Typical applications include electrostatic filters, high power , semiconductor production equipment, electron tube supplies, particle acceleration (modulators, magnets), particle sources such as ion, electron or neutron sources, vacuum/plasma processing, gas discharges, electromagnetic conversion, underwater shock wave generation, magnetic field generation, component testing, analytical instruments, medical diagnostics and therapeutic systems or test instruments.
As a critical part of a discharge circuit, a capacitor is charged until a switch causes the capacitor to discharge and unleash the stored energy. The capacitor is charged with electrical energy using a capacitor charger. AMS offers an extensive range of capacitor chargers aiming at applications in medical, research and industrial fields. These units offer a gamut of control options for properly and safely charging a circuit.
Capacitor chargers are designed as a robust current source, whereby the source is switched off with maximum precision when the desired charging voltage is reached. The achievable accuracy depends primarily on the slope of the charging curve and the reaction time of the control circuitry.
With our capacitor chargers, repetition rates up to 100 Hz are standard, with a repetitive charging accuracy of up to <0.1%. Optionally, we also realize repetition rates up to several kHz. With lower gradients of the charge curve, e.g. in recharging mode with partial discharge or with lower repetition rates with high load capacity, accuracies better than 0.01% are also possible.
High Voltage Pulse Generators
Our portfolio of high voltage pulse generators ranges from stand-alone devices converting 24 VDC into 5.5 kV for driving Pockels cells up to modular pulse generators for short pulses designed to cover a wide range of applications, like pulsed microwave sources, pulsed gas discharge, lasers, electromagnetic field generation or component testing. With this modular concept, daisy chained systems can be realized, expandable to provide an output power of up to 1 MW.
